Driver dies crashing into bus on King Street
A 40-year-old Waianae driver, speeding on North King Street, died yesterday after he ran a red light and slammed into a city bus, police said.Witnesses saw the man driving a four-door compact car speeding in heavy traffic, police said.
The man drove through the red light at King and Pua Lane and struck a city bus, which was turning left from Pua Lane, police said
The driver of the car was taken to Queen's Medical Center, where he died.
This was the 56th traffic fatality on Oahu compared with 64 at the same time last year.

Big Island visitor dies after motorcycle crash
KAILUA-KONA >> A 54-year-old Alaska man died yesterday after he lost control of the Harley-Davidson motorcycle he was riding in Kona and drove into a lava field, the Hawaii County Fire Department said. The victim's name was not immediately released.The accident 12 miles north of Kailua-Kona on Mamalahoa Highway was reported at 12:57 p.m.
The Fire Department said the victim, who was not wearing a helmet, suffered head and other injuries. He was pronounced dead at Kona Community Hospital.

2 suspects sought in assault at hotel
The Air Force and Honolulu police are searching for two men who allegedly assaulted and seriously injured an Air Force sergeant early Saturday morning at a Waikiki hotel.The sergeant and his fiancee were waiting for an elevator at Queen Kapiolani Hotel, 150 Kapahulu Ave., at 2 a.m. Saturday when the woman was shoved, police said.
Two men in their mid-20s allegedly punched the man in the face.
He was taken to the hospital and remains in a coma with head injuries.
