Star-BulletinThe winners were selected and announced during a dinner event Saturday at the Waikiki Marriott. The competition featured about 30 pieces entered by designers and craftsmen statewide.
Bunt also finished first in the Pearl Jewelry category for her "Pearl Cross" necklace.

HJA PHOTO Pearl
First: "Pearl Cross" (right) by Cathleen Bunt, Cathleen Bunt Fine Art Jewelry, Kihei. The cross features four Tahitian pearls at its four points, surrounding a pink tourmaline in 18K gold accented with diamonds. It costs $3,800.Second and People's Choice: "Golden Tears" by Paul Friese, Seagem, Honolulu. An 18K neckpiece featuring golden tear-drop-shaped natural pearls along with South Seas pearls, tsavorite garnets, yellow sapphires and diamonds.
Third: "Golden Drops" by Jock Goodman, Kamuela Goldsmiths, Kamuela. Matched 18K gold pendant and earrings set with Gold South Seas pearls accented with channel-set diamonds.

HJA PHOTO First: "Purple Splendor" (left) by Darren Marcum, Precision Goldsmiths, Wailuku. An 18K gold pendant set with a tanzanite and diamonds. This pendant features the versatility of a removable outer guard/ frame. It costs $8,200.
Second: "Pyramids of Rome" by David Sacco, Sacco Designs, Wailea. A platinum and 18K gold ring with scrolled inlay of 24K gold. This ring features a pyramid cabochon ruby and is accented with diamonds.
Third: "Raspberry Drop" by Douglas Glenn, Douglas Glenn Fine Jewelry Kona Village Goldsmith, Kona Village. An 18K gold ring featuring a raspberry rhodolite garnet cabochon and channel-set diamonds.
People's choice: "Splash" by Karla Brom, The Rainbow Collection, Honolulu. An 18K white gold fantasy design slide pendant featuring a tanzanite, a tsavorite garnet and diamond accents.
Hawaiian theme
First: "Pineapple" (right) by Brian Thomsen, Precision Goldsmiths, Wailuku, Maui. An 18K gold pendant featuring a matched pair of pineapple green opals accented with channel-set diamonds. It costs $4,500.
HJA PHOTO Second and People's Choice: "Ho'ole'a (to cause pleasure, delight and joy)" by Carrie Nottage Smith, Na Hoku Honolulu. An 18K white and yellow gold bracelet featuring two dolphins frolicking in a sea of multicolored sapphires and diamonds. Goldsmiths Eugene Luu and David Crisp.
Third: "Hau'oli Honu (Happy Turtle)" by Stephen Geritz, The Rainbow Collection, Honolulu. A 14K gold panel link bracelet set with small rubies and sapphires depicting happy sea turtles swimming.
