What qualifies you to be a state representative?
Having lived in Ewa Beach for over 24 years, I know our district's concerns of congested traffic, hot schools, property crimes and drug dealing. I've served on many community boards and organizations to start to solve these problems and need to continue working on them from the state House.
How would you improve Hawaii's public schools, and how would you pay for it?
Air-condition hot schools by putting them at the top of a prioritized CIP list. No A/C in state office buildings until schools are cooled. No additional funding would be necessary. Greater discipline of unruly students, contracting school repairs to small business instead of DAGS, local school boards.
What, if anything, should be done to improve Hawaii's business climate?
Eliminate overregulation of small business. Many professional and vocational licensing requirements make it nearly impossible for a qualified person certified in another state to pursue their chosen profession in Hawaii. We should sign reciprocal agreements on these licenses with other states to allow professionals to return home to Hawaii.
