What qualifies you to be a state representative?

Unwavering commitment to Hawaii and its people. Hands-on involvement in my community. My legislative experience, comprehension of local and global issues, and independence. The ability to work with people, build win-win solutions and communities upon shared values, common desires and needs. Openness, honesty, compassion and integrity. Love for Hawaii.

How would you improve Hawaii's public schools, and how would you pay for it?

Support standardized monitoring of student achievement and teacher evaluation. Maintain funding to fix our schools, reduce class size and compensate our teachers, principals and staff. ... Consider cuts in other services or higher GET dedicated to schools ...

What, if anything, should be done to improve Hawaii's business climate?

Government can support business without compromising our environment, workers' rights and our culture of aloha. We should exploit our successes in health care, high tech, engineering, astronomy, oceanography and agriculture. Hawaii is the greatest place to learn, work and live. ...
