Chef Donato hosts
LCC benefit

Chef Donato Loperfido of Donato's takes on the role of teacher at Leeward Community College's Pearl Chef Wine Dinner Nov. 6. Students will follow his lead in presenting a four-course Italian dinner.

LCC chef dinners bring chefs and dining room managers to school for an evening that exposes students to the realities of upscale restaurant service, from menu preparation through table service.

All that's missing is the guests, and that's where you come in. Let the students practice on you, and you get to eat Mozzarella Farcita with Nalo Greens (homemade stuffed mozzarella with soppressata, roasted peppers and arugula), Risotto con Gamberi e Carciofini (arborio rice with shrimp and baby artichokes), Gallettino Ripieno al Forno (Cornish hen stuffed with fontina and prosciutto with grilled vegetable strudel) and Cassata ala Siciliana (Sicilian ice cream cake).

Helping out with dessert will be Maurice Grasso of La Gelateria; with the greens, Dean Okimoto of Nalo Farms; and with the wines, Alan Suzuki of Mondavi Wines.

Cost is $55, to benefit the LCC culinary program. Seatings are 5 to 9 p.m. Call 455-0475.
