Lingles fund raising Republican gubernatorial candidate Linda Lingle raised nearly twice as much money as Democratic challenger Mazie Hirono in the month following the Sept. 21 primary election, according to the latest campaign spending reports.

Lingle's $1,000-a-plate fund-raiser Wednesday, which featured speaker Environmental Protection Agency administrator Christie Todd Whitman and brought in about $300,000, occurred after the deadline for the current reports.
As of Monday, Lingle has raised $4.1 million so far in the election season while Hirono's total contributions so far totals $1.6 million.
The reports also show that Lingle outspent Hirono during the latest reporting period with both candidates spending what they took in.
Lingle's campaign spending reports shows expenditures at $940,353 while Hirono spent $440,383.
Overall, Lingle has spent $4.5 million so far and Hirono $1.6 million.
Lingle has $115,863 left in her campaign warchest while Hirono's balance is $82,058 which includes a $60,000 loan from herself.
Lingle and Hirono's running mates have raised and spent far less during the reporting period.
Democrat Matt Matsunaga's contributions totaled $76,551 and expenditures were at $64,693. Matsunaga's cash on hand totaled $21,002 which includes more than $15,000 in a loan taken out by himself and $226 in unpaid expenditures.
Republican James "Duke" Aiona raised $97,390 and spent $69,268. His cash balance of $29,643 includes a $100 loan.
