The University of Hawaii yesterday celebrated the opening of its downtown center for UH Manoa Outreach College classes.

"UH Downtown," as it is called is in Pioneer Plaza at 900 Fort St.

The center was developed in response to requests from downtown businesses, and will feature non-credit seminars as well as customized classes for businesses in the area.

Included in the programs are seminars at UH's Pacific New Media computer training lab, which conducts workshops on film, video, photography, Web design and digital media. The center's computer facility and conference room can also be used, for a fee, by downtown businesses and groups.
