The Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

Alexander & Baldwin Inc., whose ocean transportation division got a reprieve when the dockworkers lockout was temporarily lifted, saw its shares jump 8.8 percent this week to outpace 11 other stocks in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin index. The return of Matson Navigation Co.'s operations to near normalcy pushed A&B's stock up to $23.42. The company will release its third-quarter earnings Wednesday. Open ports lift A&B
Maui Land & Pineapple Co. was the worst performer of the week at it plunged 15.5 percent to $15. The shares are now down 37.6 percent for the year.
