at the WaveLAST SUNDAY'S International Turntablist Federation Pacific Regional ended up as a showdown between members of the Lunatechs and the Nocturnal Sound Krew -- after all was said and done, DJs Deception, Relax, Skid and Solution represented Hawaii's top local talent that evening at the Wave Waikiki.
Spurning the NSK's bid to sweep both this year's Hawaii DMC and ITF regionals, Skid prevailed over Solution in a skratch-off when judges declared a tie after the final round. Skid will spend the weekend in San Francisco battling other regional champs for a shot at the world championships next month.
And if Skid makes it to Germany for the world finals, he'll probably run into Deception, Solution and the rest of the NSK -- they'll be there representing as reigning ITF Team Champions ...
TOMORROW NIGHT'S "Wonderlounge" at the W Honolulu will have a decidedly South American feel to it, with capoeira and samba demonstrations scheduled and "Brazilian-style go-go dancers" expected in feathers. Every third Friday of the month, promoter Komo Low brings out different members of the OM Records family; this month's party features J Boogie and King Kooba.

Mike Ness, the band's singer and lead guitarist, was only 17 years old when "Mommy's Little Monster" came out in 1983. Now 40, Ness and bandmates John Maurer, Charlie Quintana and Jonny Wickersham visit after a swing on the "Tony Hawk Boom Boom Huck Jam Tour" before heading to California for shows next month at the House of Blues.
