State seeks public input
on possible park projects

Star-Bulletin staff

Got enough tennis courts in your neighborhood? How about parks?

The Department of Land and Natural Resources is holding statewide meetings this month, asking the public to say what it wants in the way of outdoor recreation.

The state is holding the meetings as a condition of receiving federal conservation funds for park projects. Counties can then apply to the state to receive some of the money.

Meetings have already been held on Molokai, Lanai and Kauai. Remaining meetings will be:

>> Oahu, today at 6:30 p.m., DLNR, Kalanimoku Building, 1151 Punchbowl St., Board Room 132.
>> Maui, Thursday, 7 p.m., 250 S. High St., Planning Commission Meeting Room, Kahului.
>> Hilo, Oct. 23, 6:30 p.m., Hilo Lagoon Center, 101 Aupuni St.
>> Kona, Oct. 24, 6:30 p.m., Hanama Place, 75-5706, Kuakini Highway, Suite 103.
