Sen. Inouye office temporarily moves
The Honolulu office of Sen. Daniel Inouye will relocate to the fifth floor of the Prince Kuhio Federal Building this weekend. The relocation was because of the cleanup of mold infestation, repair of the air-conditioning system and replacement of ceiling, carpets and other work on his seventh-floor office.
The work will take about a month, after which Inouye will move back to Room 7-212 on the seventh floor.
His mailing address and phone and fax numbers will remain the same.
Ala Wai harbor station cuts days of operation
The marine gas station in the Ala Wai Yacht Harbor has cut the number of days it is open until the state Board of Land & Natural Resources grants a long-term lease to an operator. The fuel dock cut its hours to Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays only on Sept. 15, because it was not seeing enough business, said Brian Barbata, whose Magic Island Petroleum has leased the station from the state on a month-to-month basis since 1995.
Most boaters gas up on weekends, and "now that summer is over, there's not as much boat traffic through there," Barbata said.
The state is in the process of drawing up terms for a 35-year lease to operate the fuel dock.
Barbata said he needs that kind of a long-term lease to justify spending money to upgrade the gas pumps, which is being recommended by the state Weights and Measures Division.
