The Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

Bank of Hawaii Corp., whose stock was reiterated "outperform" this week by a Wall Street analyst, jumped 7.2 percent to lead 11 other stocks in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin index. The company, which reports its earnings Oct. 23, is up 8.8 percent this year and has a total return of 40.5 percent over the last 52 weeks. Bankoh in the money
CB Bancshares Inc. had the second-best return this week as it rose 6.2 percent while Hawaiian Electric Industries Inc. was third with a 4.2 percent gain.
The worst performer was Mera Pharmaceuticals Inc., which dropped 20 percent to 6 cents. The company, which at one time had doubled its stock price for the year, is now up just 3.5 percent in 2002.
