FRESNO, Calif. >> Nearly everybody in Bulldog Stadium was expecting Bradlee Van Pelt to run for it, just like he had all night.

When Van Pelt instead tried to throw on the biggest play of the game, Fresno State was surprised -- and then thrilled when Colorado State's remarkable quarterback finally failed at something.

Freshman Paul Pinegar passed for 184 yards, and Fresno State batted down Van Pelt's pass on a 2-point conversion attempt with 50 seconds left as the Bulldogs (3-3) upset No. 25 Colorado State 32-30 last night.

Van Pelt passed for 214 yards and rushed for 125 for the Rams (4-2).

Brigham Young 35, Utah State 34: At Logan, Utah, Bret Engemann threw a 27-yard pass to Toby Christensen to help the Cougars (3-2) come back from a 27-point halftime deficit to beat the Aggies (1-5).

Engemann found Gabriel Reid in the end zone, throwing for 18 yards and tying the score at 34. Matt Payne's point-after-touchdown pushed the Cougars ahead for the first time with just minutes left to the game.
