fund-raiser tomorrowStep into the Academy Art Center Sculpture Garden tomorrow for "Prints 2002 -- A Night Blooming with Art" and the opportunity to take home prints created by some of Hawaii's top artists.
A hundred artists have signed up for the Honolulu Printmakers fund-raiser beginning at 6 p.m., featuring music by Makana and food and drink from restaurants such as Auntie Pasto's, Cafe Che Pasta, Cafe Sistina, Chart House, Indigo, Pinky's, Sam Choy's and Red Lobster.

Admission is $25 for spectators, which includes food and beverages. Those who pay $100 for one or $125 for two can enjoy food and beverages and go home with one free print -- an excellent deal, considering prints by many of the artists typically sell for $300 to $1,000.
Among those participating in the show are established artists such as Hanae Mills, Hiroki Morinoue, Ron Kowalke, Shirley Hasenyager, Laura Ruby and Timothy Ojile; masters of darkness and light such as Jon Hamblin and Deb Aoki; and new talents to watch such as James Connor and Deborah Nehmad.
Honolulu Printmakers is a nonprofit organization that promotes the appreciation and understanding of printmaking and print production. Established in 1928, the group provides a variety of educational services and programs including a community-access print studio and year-round workshops, talks and classes.
