Its a tidy wrap
for BaywatchDoug Schwartz, producer of the recently completed "Baywatch" reunion movie made for Fox, says Hawaii's locations and crew were "nothing short of spectacular." The production came in on schedule, shooting in 14 days with 16 principal cast members, 14 Oahu locations, more than 100 extras some days, three film units working simultaneously -- and on budget, $5 million. The made-for-TV movie will air during February 2003 sweeps. Schwartz is now waiting for ABC's approval to return to Hawaii for a two-hour Oahu-based pilot titled "Hawaii Undercover," starring Carmen Electra. Filming could begin as early as January or February ...
"Five Stones," the $12-million Maui-based interracial love story starring Val Kilmer, is set to begin pre-production next month. Kilmer will also play the late porn star John Holmes in "Wonderland." Who will portray his teenage lover? None other than Kate Bosworth, who starred in "Blue Crush" ...
Jennifer Love Hewitt, who co-starred in the Hawaii-based TV series "Byrds of Paradise," has finished two days filming on Maui for the VH1 special "100 Greatest Love Songs." Hewitt and Willie K were filmed Monday singing at the Sheraton's Black Rock site ...
Calling all exotic dancers, Rastafarian goat herders, window repairmen and sorority sisters! There's an open casting call this Saturday and Sunday for the Warner Bros.' film "The Big Bounce," starring Owen Wilson and Morgan Freeman. The film starts shooting later this month and through the end of the year. Other available roles: surfers, skimmers, body boarders, "beach bums," Hawaiian priests, construction workers, tourists, local police officers, softball players, North Shore locals, traditional Hawaiian characters like cultural experts, hula dancers, musicians, singers, artists, oh, and people who speak "pidgin." This is basically a call open to men and women of all ages and ethnicities. The day pay is $110 for eight hours.
Here's where to go: 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Waialua Community Center, 66-434 Kamehameha Highway in Haleiwa; Oct. 6, 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Kapiolani Community College, the Ohia Building's Cafeteria. The casting hotline is 944-3311. Those auditioning are asked to come dressed casually or as your specialty.
