The Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

Alexander & Baldwin Inc. gained 2.9 percent this week to lead 11 other stocks in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin index. This despite unrest from ongoing labor negotiations that may affect the company's Matson Navigation Co. ocean shipping division. The stock, down nearly 15 percent for the year, ended the week at $22.70. Dock woes don't hurt Matson parent stock
Bank of Hawaii Corp. was the next best performer as it rose 2.1 percent to $27.86.
Mera Pharmaceuticals Inc. brought up the rear as it tumbled 14.3 percent to 6 cents.
