Seasiders still second
in AVCA coaches poll

The Brigham Young-Hawaii volleyball team stayed in the No. 2 spot in the AVCA Div. II coaches poll yesterday.

The Seasiders (11-0) got four first-place votes but trailed No. 1 Cal State San Bernardino 866-839.

The Coyotes (12-0) received 30 first-place votes to remain in the top spot.

Hawaii Pacific (7-3) did not move either, being ranked 24th with 89 points.

BYUH beat Western New Mexico 3-0 and HPU stopped Montana State-Billings 3-1 in their only action of the week.

The Seasiders will visit unranked Chaminade (8-1) Saturday and Hawaii Pacific hosts Hawaii-Hilo today at 7 p.m. at the Neal Blaisdell Arena.

Warriors finish last at Pacific Invitational

The Hawaii golf team shot a 900 to finish last in a field of 14 at the Pacific Invitational at Stockton, Calif., yesterday.

James Beston had the best tournament for the Warriors, putting together a 218 to finish tied for 38th individually.

Matthew Kodama (49th), Manarii Gauthier (69th), Kellen Floyd Asao (71st) and Kirk Matsumura (73rd) were UH's other scorers.

The Wahine finished seventh and last in the Pioneer Intercollegiate on Monday.

Tara Chappell led the Wahine with a 153, good for 13th overall.

Warriors to get their WAC rings tomorrow

The members of the Hawaii men's basketball team will receive their Western Athletic Conference championship rings tomorrow at the Stan Sheriff Center.

The event begins at 6 p.m.at the main hospitality room. The team will receive its rings at 7:15 p.m.

Roberts to run SMU football shuttle

Roberts Hawaii School Bus is offering a round trip shuttle bus service to Aloha Stadium from selected locations for Hawaii's football game against Southern Methodist on Saturday.

The service costs $3 and will be departing from three areas.

One bus will leave from Koko Head Elementary School at 4:15 p.m., another will depart the Mililani Mauka Park and Ride at 4:15 p.m., and the third will leave from Keolu Elementary School at 4 p.m.

Koko Marina Center to hold fishing tournament

Koko Marina Center will host its first fishing tournament Oct. 12 at 6:30 a.m.

Anglers will try to pull fish out of Maunalua Bay in an effort to win the $5,000 grand prize for largest fish.

Cincinnati QB cited

Quarterback Gino Guidugli was cited for underage drinking yesterday.

The 19-year-old Guidugli had a beer when police responded to reports of a fight at a fraternity house near campus.

Coach Rick Minter said he was disappointed in Guidugli, but would have no further comment.

"As it is, I consider this to be a part of Gino's private life, and it will be handled in that manner," Minter said.

Guidugli led the Bearcats (1-2) to the verge of an upset of Ohio State on Saturday. He completed 26 of 52 passes for 324 yards and one touchdown, and led Cincinnati to the Ohio State 15-yard line in the closing minute.

Hawaii plays the Bearcats Nov. 23 at Aloha Stadium.
