UH enrollment rises
nearly 5% for fall semester

Student enrollment at the University of Hawaii has increased by nearly 5 percent during this year's fall semester.

"These increases point directly to the excellence of our faculty and the quality of our curriculum," said UH President Evan Dobelle. "The key to maintaining this momentum is having secure and stable funding that will reward excellence in our faculty and strengthen our outreach, curriculum and capital improvements across the system," he said.

A total of 48,477 students systemwide enrolled for the fall semester, compared with 46,198 students last fall.

All campuses except Honolulu Community College had an enrollment increase:

>> University of Hawaii-Manoa had a 6.3 percent increase with an additional 1,108 students who enrolled this year bringing the total to 18,709.

>> University of Hawaii-Hilo had a 5.4 percent increase with an additional 157 students, bringing the total to 3,069.

>> University of Hawaii community colleges posted a 3.7 percent overall increase with a total of 25,865.

>> University of Hawaii-West Oahu posted a 13.8 increase with an additional 101 students bringing the total to 834.
