'A CLOSER WALK ...' AT MVT

art
GREAT JOB, ZENIA!: Zhan Hunt, left, and Charlie Garrett congratulated Zenia Zambrano after the opening-night performance of "A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline" at Manoa Valley Theatre last Wednesday. Garrett, Hawaii's foremost country music DJ, had nothing but praise for Zambrano's portrayal of Cline. He's back on the air doing mornings on all-country AM 940 (KHMC). Hunt is taking a short break after her stellar performance in Diamond Head Theatre's "You Somebody."

SEAN STEPS UP: Sean Moulson, left, celebrated with his proud father, Tim Moulson, after the show. Sean has paid his dues in local theater over the past six years, and his work here in the ensemble, and as country radio personality Joltin' Jim, is a big step forward. Tim Moulson and wife Kelly are "adoptive parents" of the MVT show.

CELEBRATING: Catching up after the show, from left, are Diane VanderZander, Margo Bourland, Darren Server, cast member Eric Richards and Mariko Lyons. Server was there to cheer on Zambrano and Scott Moura -- two fellow alumnae of DHT's hit production of "Titanic." The night out was a welcome diversion for Lyons, a superb Argentine tango dancer. An injury has kept her from dancing for several weeks.

John Berger has covered the local
entertainment scene since 1972.
