Ka Leo Hano awards show to air
Tune in 8 p.m. tomorrow on KITV for the first Ka Leo Hano Awards program, taped last month at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center.Those honored were Aunty Genoa Keawe, Jack DeMello, The Brothers Cazimero, Gabby Pahinui and the Makaha Sons. Local musicians paying tribute to the musicians include Keali'i Reichel, Willie K, Amy Hanaiali'i Gilliom, Cyril and Bla Pahinui, Barry Flanagan, and other performers.
The program will be repeated at 3 p.m. Sept. 7.
Jazz Night at Kapono's
No Mits, but two Funais — father Jimmy on guitar and son Corey, vocalist — will lead a roster of musicians performing during KIPO Jazz Night, 7 to 10 p.m. Monday at Kapono's. The band also features Marcell Porter playing trumpet, Rocky Holmes on saxophone, Hal Mita at the keyboard, Steve Jones on bass and Adam Baron on drums. Call 955-8821. Admission is free.
