Playboy mag’s ‘Big 12’
covers 2 isle lassesMY SUBSCRIPTION to Playboy Magazine expired long ago, so I need to thank the fine folks in its marketing department for sending the October issue to the Star-Bulletin. The envelope was addressed to my editor, but I don't think she would have wanted to see its contents anyway. Being a team player, I took on the difficult task of examining the magazine for her.
Available in stores now, the issue features "Girls of the Big 12," one of which is Kailua girl Shannon Sundita. The 22-year-old University of Colorado student graces the pages of Playboy, along with more than 60 other beautiful women from Big 12 Conference schools. And to prove I was actually reading the magazine, check out another student from the Boulder campus on the following page. Serena Berg is also described as having attended high school in Hawaii ...

WITH THE SUCCESS of comedy showcases at Dave & Buster's and the Emporium Lounge, funny guys Tony Silva and James Roache have decided to get in on the action. "Jus Buckaloose Live" featuring Da Braddahs and Friends kicks off tomorrow night at the Hawaiian Hut and will continue monthly through the end of the year (see the story at left).
Doors open at 8:15 p.m. and a buffet featuring food from Myong's and desserts from Ted's Bakery is included with the $28 price of admission. Tickets are available at Hawaiian Island Creations and Tower Records. Call 781-2766 ...
FOR THOSE who are simply fabulous (or just want to be), this weekend's can't-miss event is the two-year anniversary party of "Wonderlounge" at the W Honolulu. When I talked to promoter Komo Low earlier this week, he sounded excited about Saturday's celebration, which features the return of DJ Mark Grant to the islands. Doors open at 10:30 p.m., and belly dancers, massage therapists, a henna artist and other surprise guests will also be on hand. Much respect to Komo for keeping the spot hot all this time ...
