Several hundred people attended a picnic held by the Association of Chinese from Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos yesterday at Kapiolani Park. Brian Lieu, left, and Eric Lieu -- unrelated to each other -- competed in the three-legged race during the picnic.

The Handcrafters and Artisans Alliance hosted Artfest 2002, a craft fair, yesterday at Kapiolani Park. Among the vendors showcasing their wares was Na'ama Arie of Na'ama Tropical Creations of Hawaii, who creates and handcrafts clothing.

Demolition began Saturday on a building that housed a coffee stand on the Punchbowl Street side of Restaurant Row. The demolition is part of a renovation project at the complex that began this month and is scheduled to end in six months.
