The Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

Hawaiian stock soars

Hawaiian Airlines Inc., which received shareholder approval yesterday to restructure into a Delaware-incorporated holding company, jumped 15.1 percent this week to lead 11 other stocks in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin index. Its stock, which briefly traded over $3 yesterday, closed at $2.94 to match its highest close in two weeks.

City Bank parent CB Bancshares and Maui Land & Pineapple Co. also had solid weeks as their stocks rose 4.2 and 4.1 percent, respectively.

Ceatech USA Inc. was the week's worst performer as its shares fell 21.5 percent to a 52-week low of 51 cents.
