Dr. Richard Turberville Arnest Jr., 77, of Max Meadows, Va., a retired U.S. Navy veteran who commanded naval medical operations in Vietnam and Pearl Harbor, died Saturday in Virginia. He was born in Pennsylvania. He is survived by wife Susan O.; sons Richard T. III, John J. and David E.; daughter Valerie Kanuma; and nine grandchildren. Services to be held at a later date. William Carvalho Sr., 87, of Honolulu, a retired Public Works Center mason, died Aug. 6. He was born in Honolulu. Frank "Blackie" Niihau, 70, of Waimanalo, a retired heavy-equipment operator, died Saturday. He was born in Honolulu. Dara Rei Onishi, 26, of Honolulu, will be remembered in services 6 p.m. Monday at Diamond Head Mortuary. Onishi died Friday when a 6-ton boulder tumbled down a steep hillside into her bedroom and landed on her bed. She was born in Honolulu.
