Bayfest will rock

By Star-Bulletin staff

Today through Sunday, Bayfest once again brings a carnival atmosphere to the Kaneohe Marine Corps Base with live music, rides, games and various expos.

Live entertainment includes Atomic Eyes, a Georgia band familiar to the U.S. Navy circuit, recently completing a tour of American military posts in Europe. They open today for rising stars Trickside (New York City brother combo Jeff and Dave Mendelsohn), whose sound, at times, recalls The Beatles in their artistic prime. Tomorrow, the Eyes warm up the crowd for fellow Georgians Collective Soul, the alt-rock chartbusters best known for hits like "Shine," "The World I Know" and "Heavy." The spotlight will then shine on Hoku, daughter of legendary Hawaiian crooner Don Ho, Sunday night, as she closes out the Bayfest concert series.

All three days will feature fireworks, carnival rides and games, military displays, a car show and an island lifestyle expo.

Entertainment schedule:

>> Atomic Eyes: 8 tonight and tomorrow
>> Trickside: 9:30 tonight
>> Collective Soul: 9:30 p.m. tomorrow
>> Hoku: 9:45 p.m. Sunday
