FROM PURE HAWAIIAN TO 'KRISHNA LILA'
PURE HAWAIIAN MUSIC: Heli Silva and Atta played pure acoustic Hawaiian music at the Sheraton Moana Surfrider's "Concert in the Courtyard" Thursday. Kumu hula Kawaikapuokalani Hewett, Maunalua, Ned Kaapana and Jay Larrin also performed. Jeff Schatz, Mahlon Moore, Ola Souza, Kimo Villarimo and Alan Yamamoto were in the crowd representing 99.5 The Breeze, which broadcast the first two hours of the show.
MUSICAL BLISS: Willow Chang danced to the music of dj Cheb i Sabbah at the Hawaiian Hut on Friday. It was the first night of his 3 Eyed Tour, bringing the music of his memorable new album, "Krishna Lila," to Hawaii. Chang and her Daughters of the Nile dancers opened the show. The 3 Eyed Tour continues tonight at the Wave Waikiki.
FOR THE KIDS: Ellsworth Simeona, left, celebrated with Sheena Sakai, Kapena DeLima and DeLima's dad, "Kelly Boy," at Simeona's CD pre-release party, a fund-raiser for the Hawaii Academy of Performing Arts held at the Hawaii Prince Hotel on Friday. Darrell Labrado, 3 Plus, Keahiwai and Kainoa Goo also performed. Matt Young, Bob and Marie Payton, Jason Lent and élan of Afterthought were there, as was ex-Gov. George Ariyoshi. Ells' CD hits Aug. 27.
