Aloha Tower becomes
Margaritaville

TEQUILA FANS should enjoy the new "Margarita Passport" promotion that started at Aloha Tower Marketplace's weekly "Happy Hour at the Tower" event yesterday. With self-parking free after 3 p.m. and half-priced pupus available along with $2.50 margaritas, there's a good chance of staying well past the end of happy hour while enjoying live music near the waterfront.

Be sure to check out the different flavored margaritas at restaurants like Gordon Biersch, Chai's Island Bistro or Waterfront Cafe. With each strawberry, li hing mui, lilikoi or mango margarita you drink, servers will stamp your passport and bring you one step closer to a special happy hour pilsner collector's glass. Don't worry about getting all eight stamps needed in one visit, though -- Aloha Tower's "Margarita Passport" is valid through Sept. 4, so you can take your time enjoying each drink. Call 528-5700 for more info. ...

IF YOU missed out on "Happy Hour at the Tower" last night, why not head over to Gordon Biersch tonight and take a listen to my favorite local entertainer right now: Guy Cruz. I was at Kapono's for the Miss Hawaiian Tropic bikini contest last Saturday night around 11 p.m. and Cruz was on stage, finishing up back-to-back sets since the band scheduled to open for him didn't show. Instead of looking tired and ready to pack up, the man was full of energy and sounded more like we were at a backyard kanikapila instead of on couches at Aloha Tower Marketplace. Cruz gets on stage at GB tonight at 9 p.m. Call 599-4877. ...

TOMORROW NIGHT, "Sistah" Robi Kahakalau will join the Makaha Sons for this month's installment of the "Makaha Sons Summer Series" at the Makaha Resort. Tickets are $35 for the 7 p.m. prime rib and seafood buffet dinner show, or $15 for a cocktail show that follows at 9 p.m. Kumu Hula Chinky Mahoe's Hula Halau Kawaili'ula will also perform during the night of music, song and dance. Call 695-7561 for more info. ...

AND ON SATURDAY, I-94's Big Teeze and K-Smooth host one of the better-kept secrets around town: "Temptation Garden" at the Hawaiian Hut is a party for the 18-and-over crowd that's been going on for a few weeks now. Brought to you by the SuperFriends, "Temptation Garden" comes complete with go-go dancers in grass skirts and an "I Dream of Jeannie"--type atmosphere. Doors open at 10 p.m. Call 296-9494 and ask to get on the guest list. ...
