"Hidden Worlds -- Looking Through a Scientist's Microscope"
by Stephen Kramer, photographs by Dennis Kunkel (Houghton Mifflin, $16)
Hawaii neurobiologist Kunkel was lured away from his chosen career into another, the examination of the microscopic world in exquisite detail. He uses an electron microscope and artificial color and discovers a world both eerie and beautiful. Kramer's text explains how Kunkel does it, but the pictures are the reason you'll look at this book.
