NEW JOBS

>> CB Richard Ellis Hawaii Inc. has hired Fred M. Noa as a vice president in the retail properties division. He will attend retail conferences nationwide to keep abreast of ongoing changes in the industry, and its application to the local market in Hawaii. Noa was most recently vice president for commercial brokerage at Chaney, Brooks & Co.

>> Gentry Homes Ltd. has promoted John Shaw to senior vice president of architecture and Mike Brant as vice president of engineering. Shaw will oversee the design, product development and production of all Gentry Homes communities. He has been with Gentry for 21 years. Brant will be responsible for overall project and home building schedules, completion of all design and construction of site and utility improvements, and subdivision mapping. He has been with Gentry for 12 years.

>> Hawaii Preparatory Academy has named Scott Craven acting director of development. He will lead the school's fund-raising efforts, manage donor relations and broaden the school's funding base. Also at HPA, Shirley Ann Fukumoto was named director of special programs, where she will be responsible for expanding the school's summer session program and developing new programs. Stan Shutes Jr. is interim director of admission, and will direct HPA's marketing efforts. Kim Giffin, named associate director of admission, will assist and support the admission process for Lower, Middle, and Upper Schools. Peter Dods, appointed assistant director of admission, will support the admissions office, teach first-year Japanese and coach wrestling and pre-season weights.

>>Prince Resorts Hawaii's Asia-Pacific department has hired Arlynne Akemi Norimoto as director of sales and marketing. She will oversee all sales and marketing elements for the Japanese market at Hawaii Prince Hotel Waikiki and Golf Club, Maui Prince Hotel, Makena Resort, Hapuna Beach Hotel, and Mauna Kea Beach Hotel. She brings more than 20 years of travel industry hotel experience to her position

>> Charter Funding of Hawaii's Downtown branch has hired Mary Grace Delin as a loan officer. She has 10 years of experience in the retail and mortgage industries.

>> Clear Channel Hawaii has hired Cameron Motz as KSSK 92.3 FM/590 AM and KHVH 830 AM promotion coordinator. He is returning to Hawaii after graduating from the University of Northern Colorado.

PROMOTIONS

>>Vice President Ted Sasamura has been named manager of Hawaii National Bank's new Puainako branch on the Big Island. Sasamura has more than 30 years of banking experience and also serves as Hilo branch manager.

>> Lynne Nagaoka was named director of human resources at Kauai Marriott Resort & Beach Club. She will oversee the department and create and implement training programs and learning systems to support work force planning and career development. She was formerly the human resource manager and has been with Kauai Marriott since 1995.

>> RCI Construction Group has promoted Doug Ide to senior project manager and estimator. He started with the company in 1997 as a mechanical project engineer. Ide will oversee all mechanical operations on the mainland and will work to advance mechanical estimating efforts.

>> Yoshihito "Nick" Nemoto has been promoted to senior sales manager in Prince Resorts Hawaii's Asia-Pacific department. He is responsible for servicing the Japanese wholesaler at the four Prince Resorts Hawaii properties -- Hawaii Prince Hotel Waikiki and Golf Club, Maui Prince Hotel, Makena Resort, Hapuna Beach Hotel, and Mauna Kea Beach Hotel -- and has previously held positions at The Westin Tokyo and Hilton Resorts Hawaii.

RECOGNITION

>>David L. Callies and Tom Dinell of Honolulu have been inducted to the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Certified Planners. Callies is the Benjamin A. Kudo Professor of Law at the University of Hawaii William S. Richardson School of Law. Dinell is professor emeritus for the UH department of urban and regional planning. Callies and Dinell were welcomed to FAICP on the basis of individual achievements in the field of rural and urban planning.
