Doctor to be honored
at arthritis affair

Dr. James McKoy, chief of rheumatology and pain management at Kaiser Medical Center, will be honored by the Hawaii Branch of the Arthritis Foundation at a fund-raising banquet tomorrow at the Hilton Hawaiian Village.

McKoy chairs the branch's Medical and Scientific Committee and serves on the Medical and Scientific Committee for the Southern California Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation in Los Angeles.

He is also on the medical advisory board for Arthritis Today magazine, bimonthly publication of the Arthritis Foundation.

The dinner, from 4 to 9 p.m. in the Tapa Ballroom, will feature entertainers Azure McCall, Tennyson Stephens and Due Season.

Proceeds will be donated to the Hawaii Branch of the Arthritis Foundation, which provides programs and services for Hawaii residents with arthritis.

Arthritis is the leading cause of disability among Americans over age 15, affecting nearly 43 million Americans or one in six people. An estimated 189,000 islanders have some form of more than 100 diseases known as arthritis, according to the foundation.
