Marjorie Elizabeth Alter, 97, of Kona, a retired teacher at Konawaena High School, died Thursday in Kona Community Hospital. She was born in Minnesota. George L. Burningham, 91, of Honolulu, a retired harbor traffic controller at Aloha Tower, died Wednesday. He was born in Hilo. He is survived by daughters Hawley Manwarring, Eva Torres and Sybil "Chubby" Kahapea; son Thomas "Dobbs"; sister Margaret Smith; brother Joseph Apana; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Ruby Mae Butac Crisostomo, infant daughter of Ruben and Vilma Crisostomo of Kunia, died July 17.
