Members of Shinnyo-En Hawaii will offer a tour of their temple at 2348 S. Beretania St. and explanation of their beliefs at an open house next weekend.
The program at 2 p.m. Aug. 11 will include a film about the sect, which was founded in Japan in 1936 and first came to Hawaii in 1971. Founder Shinjo Ito wished to spread Buddha's teaching to bring peace and harmony throughout the world, said local member Elaine Watanabe.
