"CQ": Considering his filmmaking pedigree, it's no surprise that music-video director Roman Coppola set his debut feature on a troubled Paris movie set in the late '60s, as a young American (Jeremy Davies) attempts to finish a "Barbarella"-style sci-fi flick about life in 2001. It also stars Angela Lindvall as the seductive star, Billy Zane, Dean Stockwell and fellow Coppola clan member Jason Schwartzman. (R)
"Lovely & Amazing": Director Nicole Holofcener follows up on her 1996 thinking-woman's cult film "Walking and Talking," with a story of two friends (Catherine Keener and Anne Heche) juggling jitters about marriage, independence and growing up. Keener plays a former homecoming queen who's drifting in a boring marriage. Holofcener, who's also directed episodes of HBO's "Sex and the City," wrote Keener's part specifically for her. Also stars Brenda Blethyn, Emily Mortimer, Dermot Mulroney and Jake Gyllenhaal. (R)
"Martin Lawrence Live: Runteldat": The popular comedian/actor stars in another stand-up concert film, following up the success of "You So Crazy." (R)
"The Master of Disguise": The comedian returns to the big screen in a comedy executive-produced by fellow Saturday Night Live-alumnus Adam Sandler. Carvey plays Pistachio Disguisey, a sweet Italian waiter who discovers he can harness the family's secret power of "Energico," a fabulous talent for mimicry and disguise. Brent Spiner plays a criminal mastermind who tries to steal the power from Disguisey's father (James Brolin). (PG)
"Signs": M. Night Shyamalan ("The Sixth Sense" and "Unbreakable") is back with his latest supernatural thriller about a lapsed minister and widowed father of two (Mel Gibson) who is living on a farm with his younger brother (Joaquin Phoenix) when mysterious patterns appear in the cornfields. (PG-13)
