The Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

Mera Pharmaceuticals Inc., which changed its name from Aquasearch Inc. after emerging yesterday from Chapter 11 bankruptcy, surged 36.4 percent for the week to easily outpace 11 other members in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin index. New Aquasearch a hit
The biotech company had been slightly down for the week until leaping 42.9 percent yesterday to close at 15 cents, its highest level since hitting 15.5 cents on Oct. 31, 2001.
Big Island rival Cyanotech Corp., which is racing the clock to get its stock above the $1 level before a Sept. 16 deadline, jumped 12.11 percent to 75 cents.
