Ah Mow, Bown give U.S. another win over Cuba

Robyn Ah Mow scored only one point, but spread the ball around enough to lead the United States to another win over Cuba, 25-21, 25-17, 28-26 at Thailand.

The Americans had seven different players score, including eight from Heather Bown in the sweep that lasted just over an hour.

Cuba lost 3-1 to the Americans in the first round of the World Grand Prix last week. The win gave the U.S. a 2-1 record in the second round after being 1-2 in the first.

Now the Americans move to Chinese Taipei to play the Cubans again Friday to begin the third round. They share a pool with Japan and Russia.

The final round begins Aug. 1 in Hong Kong.

Bown went into yesterday's game as the 12th best scorer and seventh best blocker in the tournament, while Ah Mow is ranked the fifth best setter.

Ah Mow has 219 assists, and she has made only one ball-handling error.
