GOOD MORNING, JENNY: Jennifer Perri, second from left, had to get up very early last Friday to join Paul Udell, left, Jill Kuramoto and Ben Gutierrez on the KITV morning show. Perri sang two songs from her impressive "Jennifer" CD, which recently topped the Tower Records chart for sales by Hawaii artists. Her full-length CD will be released by Victor Entertainment in October. Perri's dancers got a solo spot when Guiterez invited them to dance during his weathercast.

ALOHA, "ANNA": Sam Polson, left, congratulated playwright Nancy Moss and director Brad Powell on the opening night of "Anna" at The Actors' Group Wednesday. "Anna" is "must-see" theater. Polson, meanwhile, is moving forward with his film biography of local jazz legend Betty Loo Taylor.

A MOANA AFTERNOON: Jon Yamasato of Na 'O'iwi, second from left, talked story with Alan Yamamoto of 99.5 The Breeze, center, and the guys of 'Ale'a at the Sheraton Moana-Surfrider on Thursday. Keola Beamer, Lea Uehara and Janet Maduli were among the capacity crowd for the late-afternoon Hawaiian concert by Jerry Santos, Na 'O'iwi, and 'Ale'a -- and yes, 'Ale'a guitarist Chad Takasugi (in blue shirt) has cut his hair since his group's CD party. So much for his cap!

John Berger has covered the local
entertainment scene since 1972.
