Foods of Hawaii fest
Enjoy a sampling of products by the Hawaii Food Manufacturers Association from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. tomorrow at the "American Savings Bank Foods of Hawaii Festival," being held at Aloha Tower Marketplace.The event is free, and if you like what you taste, the products will be available for purchase. North Shore Farms tour
Tomatoes and other produce grown on the North Shore will find an appreciative audience when the Hawaii Slow Foods Convivium shows up for a "Low Country Boil" next weekend.The food-appreciation group with will visit North Shore Farms on July 27 (an article in Wednesday's Food section gave an incorrect date). Owners Jeanne and Steven Vana will lead a farm tour, then host a lunch of featuring Kahuku shrimp, corn and yellow watermelon; Waialua tomatoes, sweet onions, herbs, asparagus and cucumber; and Pupukea greens.
The event runs 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Cost is $15 for members; $20 for non-members. Reservations are required; call 947-6404.
