Police said they have received reports that Kamuela "Kami" Sanchez, 36, is living in Makakilo.

Sanchez has been sought by police since February 2000 after a Maui grand jury indicted him on a manslaughter charge in the death of Nathan Ilar.

On the morning of Jan. 28, 2000, police said, Ilar, 32, was visiting with friends at a barbecue at Cove Park in Kihei when he noticed an altercation.

Witnesses said Ilar went over to calm things down but was instead knocked to the ground.

Maui Police Lt. Milton Matsuoka said Ilar suffered head injuries but that investigators were not sure if the injuries resulted from the punch, the fall or both.

Ilar died two days later without regaining consciousness.

Police described Sanchez as 160 to 170 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

Police have not said whether Sanchez's appearance has changed since he was last seen.

Anyone with information concerning Sanchez may call the Maui Police Department toll-free at 888-242-6966.

Calls may also be made to CrimeStoppers at 955-8300 or *CRIME on a cellular phone.
