NBA still considering
Savo for next season

Predrag Savovic hasn't put on a professional uniform yet but his pro career has already bounced back and forth between two continents.

The former Hawaii star's chances of playing in the NBA have not completely disappeared. Savovic's agent Marc Cornstein said yesterday that negotiations had come down to two teams, one from the NBA and a team from Europe. Cornstein declined to name the two organizations that might sign the 6-foot-6, 212-pound guard.

Cornstein said last week that the former UH player would forego offers from the NBA and sign with a team in Europe since Savovic had received offers of guaranteed money from three European club teams.

A few NBA teams had offered Savovic contracts but none were guaranteed. The scenario, however, changed again and the NBA has re-entered the picture.

"That's just how it works," the New-York based agent said. "Nothing has been finalized."

Cornstein expects to finalize a contract this week and a deal could be completed as early as today.

Savovic is the Rainbows' career leader in 3-point goals (178) and fourth all-time scorer with 1,414 points. He was not picked on the June 26 NBA draft.

The team was coached by Hawaii Wahine coach Dave Shoji and assisted by Peter Ehrman and Charlie Jenkins.

Tanoue wins bronze at world championships

St. Louis graduate Ryan Tanoue of Maunalani Heights captured a bronze medal at the International Shooting Sport Federation World Championships held last weekend in Lahti, Finland.

Tanoue, 19, scored 592 points out of a possible 600 in the junior men's 10-meter air rifle event to finish third behind Germany's Dirk Leiwen and China's Fan Fei .

Tanoue's performance helped the U.S. junior men's squad finish third in the team competition behind China and Germany.

Tanoue recently completed his freshman year at the University of Nevada where he won the NCAA individual air rifle championship in March.

He completed his high school career by capturing the state air riflery title in 2000 as a senior at St. Louis.
