Construction to slow
traffic on some roads

Kalanianaole and Likelike highways
and the H-1 will be affected

The state Department of Transportation is warning motorists to expect delays on a number of Honolulu highways as roadwork continues throughout the week.

The department advises that:

>> Two lanes of the H-1 freeway in the Honolulu-bound direction will be closed between the Kunia and Waikele bridges from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. today through Friday.

>> One lane of the H-1 freeway in the eastbound direction may be closed between the Paiwa and Airport interchanges today from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for overhead sign work. The day closures may last until Friday.

>> Likelike Highway will be closed to Kaneohe-bound traffic at Valley View Drive today from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. The nighttime closures will last until Thursday night into Friday morning for survey work. Also, from July 15 to 18, the highway will be closed nightly to Honolulu-bound traffic at Kahekili Highway from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. Drivers should take an alternate route.

>> Two eastbound lanes of Kalanianaole Highway will be closed between Waikui and Waa streets today from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for resurfacing. The day closures will last until Friday. During the closures, one town-bound lane will be contraflowed, and left turns off the eastbound lanes will be prohibited. U-turns will be allowed at Kilauea Avenue and at West Hind Drive. Also, one lane of the highway in the eastbound direction will be closed between Waa Street and West Hind Drive from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. today through Friday for waterline and guardrail work.

The Transportation Department asks drivers to be cautious while driving through these areas and allow for extra travel time.
