The Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

Kona aquaculture companies Aquasearch Inc. and Cyanotech Corp. surged this week to take the top two positions in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin index. Isle biotech firms chalk up big gains
Aquasearch Inc., which last month had its Chapter 11 reorganization plan approved, gained 10 percent, or 1 cent, to 11 cents. The shares are now up 89.7 percent for the year.
Cyanotech, which has until Sept. 16 to get its stock to $1 or higher for 10 consecutive days to avoid delisting by the Nasdaq, jumped 35.8 percent yesterday to end the week with a 7.9 percent gain. Its stock, which is now at 68 cents, has been under $1 for 43 straight trading days.
