The state attorney general, in a news release, said that any person or entity whose one-or two-family dwelling in any state other than North Carolina was finished with Dryvit Exterior Insulation and Finish System may be entitled to benefits.
Parties have reached a proposed settlement in a Jefferson County, Tenn., case entitled Bobby R. Posey, et al. vs. Dryvit Systems Inc.
Dryvit is a multilayered exterior wall system consisting of a finish coat, a base coat, reinforcing mesh, adhesive and insulation board, which are all secured to a substrate.
Plaintiffs allege Dryvit is defective because the product traps water in the exterior wall, which could damage homes.
The settlement benefits include free property inspections, a Dryvit settlement program three-year limited warranty, and cash contributions toward repair costs.
To obtain benefits, class members must file a claim form by Dec. 5, 2003.
Those who may be eligible can call 800-320-9415 or go to www.stuccosettlement.com to obtain a copy of the notice of proposed settlement and claim form, or write to Dryvit Claims, P.O. Box 1626, Faribault, MN 55021-1626.
