"Blazin' Circus" keeps smokin'

It was only a matter of time until Hawaii got its own version of an extreme sports event.

Billed as an "Action Sports & Music Festival," "Blazin' Circus" continues through Saturday at the Blaisdell Center Exhibition Hall, with some of today's best athletes on BMX bikes, skateboards, inline skates and Go-Peds -- all regularly showcased on ESPN's "X Games" -- running through their tricks of the trade up to four times per day.

Featured athletes include Mat Hoffman, 10-time and current World BMX Bicycle Stunt Champion; Japanese inline skating brothers Eito and Takeshi Yasutoko; professional rollerbladers Cesar Mora and Shane Yost; skateboarders Chris Gentry, Tas Pappas and Sergie Ventura; plus the world's No. 1 female inline skater, Fabiola da Silva.

It seems anything related to the street scene and extreme sports will be showcased at the "Circus" -- a half-pipe and street course, action sports and auto show vendor villages, mixed with entertainment by local artists and, of course, the requisite cheesecake in the form of an Asian model search contest.

Here's the schedule:
