Kids got a chance to check out emergency equipment at Pearlridge Center yesterday as city officials unveiled a new program called "Building a Better Community, Together." The program will provide more than $200,000 in equipment to the police and fire departments. It will be funded by half the fares collected by the Pearlridge Center's Skycab from October through December 2003.



HAWAIIAN STILTS NEST IN KANEOHE

One of two endangered Hawaiian stilts that hatched last week in Klipper Golf Course at the Kaneohe Marine Corps Base Hawaii foraged for food yesterday along the shore of a pond in the course. It is the first time in the 20 years since the pond was created that Hawaiian stilts have nested there.
