The Hawaiian Islands Bodybuilding Championships at the Blaisdell Concert Hall on Saturday featured a guest performance by National Miss Fitness 2001 Tanji Johnson. Before the event, Johnson went through her fitness routine in a practice run.

From left, Arleigh Bumanglag, Allen Mahuka and George Bello warmed up. Bumanglag took first place in the Junior Hawaiian Island Heavy Lightweight Division; Mahuka took first in the Over 35 Masters Heavy Lightweight Division; and Bello took third in the Junior Hawaiian Island Heavy Lightweight Division.

The top winners in their weight divisions participated in a pose-down to determine the overall winner. Those participating in the final pose-down were, from left, Neilsen Murakami, Tarrell Giersch, Francis Taua, Nos Racoma and Chris Yelton. Giersch, the heavyweight champion, took the overall title.

In the dressing room, Lynn Racoma, left, and Amy Hayashida prepared for the Hawaii Figure Contest at the Hawaiian Islands Bodybuilding Championships. Racoma finished in third place and Hayashida took second. The winner of the Hawaii Figure Contest (short class, 5 feet 3 inches and under), Kristi Tauti, took the overall title.
