Twelve-year-old Michelle Wie of Honolulu beat Angela Won 5 and 3 in the second round, while Amanda Wilson of Hilo defeated Alexis Wooster of Winnetka, Ill., 2 and 1.
Wie overpowered Won, 18, of Irvine, Calif., at the 6,189-yard, par 71 Meadow Course of the Sunriver Resort, outdriving her by some 50 yards per hole and taking a 3-up lead at the turn.
On the 385-yard, par-4 11th, Wie sailed her tee shot within 40 yards of the green.
"I feel good, I feel happy," said the soft-spoken Wie, who lost in the third round last year.
Wie breezed through the first-round match in the morning, defeating Janell Howland, of Beaumont, Texas, 5 and 4. With match-play concessions, Wie had birdies on seven of the 14 holes she played, all the birdies coming on par-4s. The only par-4 she failed to birdie was the 405-yard 4th.
Wie remained the youngest player in the field when Mina Harigae, 12, of Monterey, Calif., lost in the second round to Kimberly Rowton, 20, of San Antonio, 2 and 1.
In her first-round match, Wilson beat Heidi Chua of the Philippines 2 and 1.
Jessica Reese, of Santa Rosa, Calif., the medalist with an even-par 142, lost in the first round to Sunny Oh, of Torrance, Calif., 9 and 7. Oh lost in the second round to Candy Herrera of Apple Valley, Calif., 6 and 5.
Match play continues today and the 36-hole final is Sunday.
