Windward offers academic surf session
Dudes! There's still time to sign up for a week of hairy big-wave memories, board tales, and a presentation on the "Art of Surfing" by surf champ James Jones. All are part of a Legendary Surfer Summer Speaker Series at Windward Community College.Hit up the old man for the bucks 'cause it costs $100 for five nights listening to Jones, Hawaiian surfing pioneer Kimo Hollinger, big wave rider Clark Abbey, shaper Chuck Andrus, and surf collector Mark Fragale. Choose from two sets of dates: 6 to 8 p.m. June 24 to 28, or July 22 to 27).
Last the week and you're ready for a half day of surf lessons with Hans Hedemann, though you'll pay another $50 lab fee.
The Surf Science, Culture and Technology program keeps expanding, with credits now available. For information, call Ian Masterson at 254-0180. To register, call WCC at 235-7433.
