Benjamin P. Aki, 70, of Waimea, Kauai, a retired groundskeeper for the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, died Wednesday in North Hawaii Community Hospital. He was born in Keei, South Kona, Hawaii. He is survived by wife Alison K.; sons Benjamin J., William K. and Hank B.P.; daughters Beni-Jo Kuamoo and Florence Leong; brothers Archie, Ernest and Walter; sisters Annie Ka, Lillian Hose, Margie Salis and Elizabeth; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Imiola Congregational Church in Waimea. Call after 9 a.m. Burial to take place at a later date. Aloha attire. No flowers.

Seiki "Timo" Arakaki, 79, of Kaneohe, a retired security officer for the Department of Defense, died June 3. He was born in Waikapu, Maui. He is survived by wife Daisy Y., sons Glenn T. and Terence K., brothers Richard S. and Raymond S., sisters Lorraine Y. Toma and Dorothy S. Oshiro, and a grandchild. Private services.

Seiichi Azama, 86, of Honolulu died May 17. He was born in Aiea. He is survived by wife Yoshino "Florence"; sons Edward S., Michael H. and Gary Y. Azama; daughters Bessie C. Yagi and Amy Izawa; brothers Richard and Raymond; sisters Mitsuye "Dee" Higa, Shizuye Suzuki and Haruye "Hazel" Azama, Masaye Sakurauchi and Sumiko Oi; and seven grandchildren. Services held.

Florence Kie Sin Baker, 78, of Honolulu, formerly of Iowa, died June 4 at home. She was born in Honolulu. She is survived by three brothers and three sisters. Private services.

Lloyd Clinton Beers, 80, of Honolulu, a quality engineer for Aerospace Program, died last Friday. He was born in Elmira, N.Y. He is survived by wife Dorothy, daughter Barbara A. Stellhorn, son Paul C., sister Muriel Dortch and two grandchildren. Private services. Donations suggested to St. Francis Hospice.

Ai Di Deng, 78, of Honolulu died June 2 in Straub Clinic and Hospital. She was born in China. She is survived by sons Li Wai Kyong, Li Koch Kyong and Li Mun Kyong; daughters Li Yu Chan and Li Yu Bing; and five grandchildren. Private services.

Herbert Masaaki Eji, 85, of Honolulu, a retired owner of D & H Engraving, died Monday at Straub Clinic and Hospital. He was born in Honolulu. He is survived by wife Nathalie N., son Dexter S., daughter Donna M.E. Ah Mok Sang, brother George H., sisters Kimiye Kashiyama and Helen K. Ishikawa, and three grandchildren. Robert Matthew Gompers, 34, of Haiku, Maui, a professional wave rider, will be remembered in a private family service. He died last Friday when his motorcycle crashed into cars in Lahaina. He was born in Cheverly, Md. He is survived by parents Linda Kennedy and Walter; brother Michael; sisters Jessica G. Adams, Ricki Gompers and Kim and Lisa Kennedy; and grandfather William Bowman.

Rowena Brito Hardey, 78, of Honolulu, a retired federal worker, died last Thursday at home. She was born in Hawaii. She is survived by daughter Laara Allbrett, sister Mollie Bishop, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Services held.

Henry Masayoshi Higa, 77, of Kailua, a retired federal government entomology supervisor for the U.S. Army, died May 28 in St. Francis Hospice Puiwa. He was born in Makawao, Maui. Kevin "Hoku" Malaqui, 42, of Haiku, Maui, who served in the U.S. Navy as a satellite communications operator and radio man, died Sunday in Haiku. He was born in Wailuku. John Pershing Thornton, 83, of Hawaiian Paradise Park, Hawaii, a retired senior chief for the U.S. Navy and the proprietor of Blue Sky Enterprises, died Tuesday in Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Los Angeles. He is survived by sons John, Michael and Jerry; daughters Donna Gayer and Marilyn Luke; sister Carol J. Smallberg; ex-wife Doris; and numerous grandchildren.

Edith Tamayo Uyehara, 93, of Honolulu died May 31. She was born in Ewa. She is survived by sons Charles M. and Maurice S., daughter Jean Y. Nishimura, sister Lilly Y., eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. Private services.

Larry Tadaichi Yanagisako, 89, of Wahiawa, died June 3. He was born in Wahiawa. He is survived by wife Ayako; sons Byron, Milton and Clayton; daughter Lois; brothers Edward and Yoshio; sister Elaine Hayashi; and two grandchildren. Private services.

Yoshie I. Yano, 84, of Honolulu died May 21 in Kapiolani Medical Center at Pali Momi. She had four grandchildren. The mortuary provided incorrect information for an obituary published yesterday.
