Wave Waikiki
hosts Naked Music

Star-Bulletin staff

By emphasizing the soulful, sophisticated side of house music, future-forward San Francisco musical collective Naked Music has made a considerable impact on the American electronica scene in recent years. Their distinctly soulful sound is typified by warm keyboards, deep, loping bass lines and pleasantly infectious melodies.

By forgoing the usual formula of heavy, beat-driven thumping in favor of a more palatable laid-back groove, Naked Music has caught on with a fast-growing legion of listeners who have long outgrown the old conventions of dance music.

Santa Cruz, Calif., native Miguel Migs, 26, has been the prime mover of one of the most in-demand music collectives in the United States since Naked Music's inception in 1999. For this weekend's performance at Wave Waikiki, the acclaimed remixer is joined by fellow Naked Music DJ Mauricio Aviles and the elegant vocal talents of house songbird Lisa Shaw.
