MVP Shaq also makes
a valuable L.A. neighbor

IT'S kind of hard to imagine April Masini grocery shopping, but the former wife of TV entrepreneur Al Masini, a TV producer herself, had a bag of groceries when she got into the elevator of her new condo on Wilshire Boulevard in L.A. When she stepped in, she encountered a huge man nearly three times her size, who turned out to be a new neighbor who volunteered to carry the groceries to her apartment for her. The new neighbor turned out to be L.A. Laker Shaquille O'Neal, just named most valuable player in the 2002 playoff sweep of the New York Nets. April's new complex houses several celebrities, she discovered, such as teen star Jessica Simpson, who lives right above her, and Paul Mitchell Jr., who lives just down the hall. But of all her celeb neighbors, she was most impressed by Shaq, which is understandable ...

JUST back from L.A. is restaurateur Fred Livingston (Matteo's, Trattoria, etc.) and wife Nikki. Their visit was memorable since they got to see daughter Linda Livingston in the starring role of Maria Callas in "Master Class" at the Santa Paula Theater Center, and also a production of "L'Chaim to Life" at the Odyssey Theater in L.A. which Linda directed ... And home from a week in New York is Waikoloa honcho Tom Rohr. While there, he lunched at "21" with financial tycoon David Hamamoto, Punahou grad and former Goldman Sachs partner who's now head of NorthStar Investments, and David Ferm, president of Primedia. Rohr also spent two days golfing in the Hamptons with old pal Arnold Palmer, former Sports Illustrated editor Mark Mulvoy (who created the "Swimsuit Edition") and brother Jim Rohr, something of a tycoon himself as chairman of PNC Financial ...

Mature music makers

THE Emme Tomimbang show, "Prime Time Island Moments," airing tomorrow night on KGMB features the works of such musical legends as composer R. Alex Anderson, who lived more than 100 years, and late singer/songwriter Aunty Irmgard Aluli, who sang in later years while sitting down. Emme learns more about Aunty Irmgard from her daughter, Mihana Souza, who's both a member of Pumehana and a solo artist, debuting her latest CD, "I. Mihana." And Mihana's daughter, Mahina, who with Kahala Mossman makes up the duo Kahala Moon. Also, Emme springs something of a surprise: Well-known isle businessman Kenny Brown of the Big Isle Brown family tells her he's decided to do something different in his "prime" -- he's recording his first CD ...

Miss and soon to be Mrs.

MODEL Kehaulani Christian made the Kathy Muller Agency proud when she was crowned Miss Hawaii. You may have seen her on TV commercials for ITO EN Soft Drinks and Zippy's restaurants. And now she's caught the eye of Neiman Marcus ... Many thought Liane Mark would win the Miss Hawaii title on her third try, especially in light of the national exposure she's received for her platform on MS, a disease which has befallen her. But if Liane can't be Miss Hawaii, she's at least going to be a Mrs. She didn't wear her engagement ring during the pageant, but is now sporting it once again ...
